National Parks Conservation Association - Senior Vice President of Strategic Communications
Company Profile

Senior Vice President of Strategic Communications

Building the future of our National Park System requires hard work and dedication in the face of threats to park sites and other challenges. Since NPCA’s founding in 1919, the organization has served as America’s leading independent voice for the national parks. With more than a million members and supporters, NPCA is the voice of America’s national parks, working to protect and preserve the nation’s most iconic and inspirational places for present and future generations.

From its national headquarters in Washington, D.C., and 27 locations nationwide, NPCA calls on program and policy experts, committed volunteers, staff lobbyists, community organizers, and communications specialists to inform and inspire the public and to influence decision makers to ensure that the national parks are well protected. By living and working in and around the parks and communities they serve, NPCA's regional and field staff forges lasting and effective partnerships with advocates, organizations and governments to bridge local advocacy and national policy.

NPCA will be celebrating its centennial in 2019.  The centennial affords the organization the opportunity to amplify its good work, encouraging new and emerging voices to join the organization in its efforts to preserve the past and protect the future, and chart new strategies for engaging all Americans in ensuring that these lands are protected in perpetuity.  As such, the centennial also affords the new SVP of Strategic Communications a golden opportunity to raise NCPAs visibility through integrated communications campaigns that resonate with members, donors, and other key audiences.

Job Description

The SVP will provide leadership, oversight and strategic direction for NPCAs Communications and Membership departments, particularly with respect to increasing digital opportunities.  With an understanding of the inherent relationship between branding strategy and communications, the SVP will oversee the development, implementation and ongoing evaluation of strategic communications initiatives to support membership, fundraising, and community engagement.

NPCA’s core values of Commitment, Inclusion, Integrity and Respect promote a diverse, ethical and innovative culture and make NPCA an effective organization and a great place to work. The following pages provide information about the SVP position, the Communications Department, and the mission and strengths of NPCA.
